VidSlim — Privacy Policy

The short version. VidSlim compresses your videos entirely on your device. Your videos are never uploaded to us or anyone else. VidSlim has no accounts and no sign-in. The only data collected is what our advertising provider (Google AdMob) needs to show ads, and you control that through the consent prompt.

This Privacy Policy explains how the VidSlim application ("VidSlim", "the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. VidSlim is an on-device video compressor for Android published by zavistudio. By using VidSlim you agree to this policy.

1. Information we do not collect

VidSlim does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use it. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or location. We do not upload, copy, or transmit your videos, images, or files to any server. All compression happens locally on your device.

2. On-device video processing

When you select a video, VidSlim reads it, compresses it using your device's built-in media encoder, and writes the result back to your device storage or gallery. Input videos and finished videos stay on your device. We never see them and never send them anywhere.

3. Permissions we request and why

Photos and videos / media access — to let you pick the video you want to compress and to save the compressed result to your gallery. Where supported, VidSlim uses the Android system photo picker so it can work without broad access to your media library.
Notifications — to show compression progress and let you cancel a job while it runs in the background. Compression works even if you deny this permission; you simply won't see the progress notification.

We only use these permissions for the purposes described above.

4. Information collected automatically (advertising)

VidSlim is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). To show ads and measure them, Google may collect and process certain information, which can include your device's advertising identifier, IP address, general device information, and app-interaction/ad-interaction data. This processing is performed by Google, not by us, and is governed by Google's own policies.

Depending on your consent and region, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. VidSlim also uses Google Play services, which Google may use for security, fraud prevention, and delivery of the ad service.

5. Your choices and consent

Consent (EEA, UK, and other applicable regions): On first launch VidSlim shows a consent form provided by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). You can choose whether to allow personalized ads, and you can reopen the privacy options from the app's Settings to change your choice at any time.
Reset or limit your advertising ID: You can reset your advertising identifier or opt out of ad personalization in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads (wording varies by device).

6. Data retention

VidSlim stores a local compression history (file name, original and compressed sizes, resolution, and codec) and your app settings on your device only. You can delete history entries in the app, and clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes this information. Data collected by Google for advertising is retained by Google according to its policies.

VidSlim relies on the following third-party services, which have their own privacy policies:

8. Children's privacy

VidSlim is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the ad provider, please contact us and we will assist where possible.

9. Security

Because your videos are processed on your device and are not transmitted to us, they remain under your control and your device's security. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, but keeping processing on-device significantly limits exposure.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, within the app. Continued use of VidSlim after an update means you accept the revised policy.
