Data Usage Monitor ("the App") is developed by Syed Zain Ali ("we", "us", "our").
This Privacy Policy explains how our app handles your information.

personal data. Everything the app does happens entirely on your device.

⚙️ How the App Works
All features of this app operate entirely on your device using
Android system APIs. No data ever leaves your device.
- Screen time and app usage data is read from Android's UsageStatsManager
- Network usage data is read from Android's NetworkStatsManager
- All statistics are displayed locally and never transmitted anywhere
- Settings and block rules are saved locally on your device only
- The app does not connect to any external server or API
🛡️ VpnService Usage
This app uses Android's VpnService API
exclusively to power the Mobile Data Firewall feature. This allows users to
block specific apps from using mobile data.
How VpnService is used:
- A local VPN tunnel is created entirely on your device
- No traffic is routed through any external server
- The VPN tunnel endpoint is your device itself
- Only used to block mobile data for user-selected apps
- Blocked apps continue to work normally on WiFi
- A persistent notification is always shown when active
- You must manually enable it — never auto-activated
- No browsing data, passwords, or traffic is read or stored
Why VpnService is required:
- VpnService is the only Android API that enables
per-app mobile data blocking without root access
- No alternative API exists for this functionality
- This usage falls under Google Play's permitted
exception for firewall and app usage tracker apps
🔑 Permissions Explained
The app requests the following permissions and here is why:
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS
Read screen time and app usage data from Android system
BIND_VPN_SERVICE
Required for Mobile Data Firewall — local device only
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Detect if device is on WiFi or Mobile Data
FOREGROUND_SERVICE
Keep firewall running with visible notification
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES
Read list of installed apps to show usage stats
READ_PHONE_STATE
Detect network type for accurate data tracking
🤝 Third Party Services
This app does not use any third party services, SDKs,
analytics tools, or advertising networks. There are no
third parties that receive any data from this app.

- No Firebase
- No Facebook SDK
- No advertising SDKs
- No crash reporting services
👶 Children's Privacy
This app does not collect any data from anyone, including children
under the age of 13. Since no data is collected, this app is safe
for all ages.
🔐 Data Security
Since all data remains on your device and nothing is transmitted
to external servers, there is no risk of data breach from our side.
Your usage statistics are only accessible to you on your device.
